Junior Bookkeeper

Our client, a respected Chartered Accountant firm based in Cape Town CBD, is seeking a motivated Junior Bookkeeper to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for various bookkeeping tasks and will benefit from mentorship and opportunities for career advancement.

Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform bookkeeping up to Trial Balance
  • Conduct customer and supplier reconciliations
  • Prepare year-end journals and assist in compiling Trial Balance for Annual Financial Statements
  • Prepare management accounts
  • Maintain fixed asset registers
  • Calculate and submit VAT201 returns
  • Manage a portfolio of clients
  • Capture and process payroll runs
  • Calculate and submit EMP201 returns
  • Perform EMP501 reconciliations
  • Handle FIC onboarding of new clients and ongoing compliance for existing clients
  • Collect and submit information for Beneficial Ownership disclosures
  • Collect and submit information for CIPC Annual Returns
  • Submit Foreigner Assurance on CIPC
  • Deregister and re-register companies with CIPC

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Pastel Partner knowledge is an advantage
  • Pastel Payroll experience is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience with deceased estate administration is an advantage, but not required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • 2–3 years’ experience in accounting, company secretarial, or similar roles
