Line Manager – Manufacturing & Packaging Operations

A leading player in the manufacturing and packaging industry is seeking to appoint a dynamic, hands-on, and performance-driven Line Manager to join its operations team in Robertson.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the effective management of the department, including operational efficiency, productivity, staffing, equipment utilisation, hygiene, health & safety, and compliance standards.

You will play a critical role in ensuring that production targets, quality expectations, and throughput objectives are achieved while leading and developing a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and monitor weekly packing and pre-sorting plans, as well as daily packing programmes
  • Ensure all quality control measures are implemented and aligned with customer expectations
  • Maintain compliance with HACCP, BRC, and company health & safety standards
  • Manage and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and management
  • Monitor productivity levels and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all work areas and staff comply with safety regulations and procedures
  • Optimise packing processes to maximise efficiency, productivity, and resource utilisation
  • Lead, motivate, and develop team members to ensure high staff engagement
  • Verify stock levels and investigate operational delays
  • Manage fruit volumes and analyse throughput versus operational capacity
  • Compute quantities, quality standards, and material requirements according to production programmes
  • Control expenditure and ensure the efficient use of operational resources

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Previous experience in a similar manufacturing, production, packhouse, or packaging environment will be advantageous
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow within the business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Good computer literacy, particularly in MS Office
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage detailed information accurately
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational processes simultaneously

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Packhouse / General Manager.
