Maintenance Manager

Our client, an established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to take ownership of the complete maintenance function within a high-volume production facility.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong individual who enjoys being on the factory floor, leading teams, improving equipment reliability, and driving a proactive maintenance culture. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum plant uptime, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance function across mechanical, electrical coordination and plant reliability.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Manage maintenance teams, technical specialists and contractors.
  • Ensure rapid response to equipment breakdowns while identifying and eliminating root causes.
  • Oversee maintenance planning, engineering stores and critical spare parts management.
  • Drive plant reliability, equipment performance and continuous operational improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and engineering compliance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimise production downtime.
  • Monitor maintenance performance through reporting, KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop maintenance personnel to build a high-performing engineering team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Red Seal Millwright qualification (essential).
  • Minimum 7 years’ maintenance experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience leading maintenance teams.
  • Proven experience managing preventative maintenance systems and improving plant reliability.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, steam systems, pumps, conveyors and industrial processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance operations independently within a fast-paced production environment.

Experience gained within one or more of the following industries will be highly regarded:

  • Manufacturing
  • FMCG
  • Chemical or process industries
  • Heavy industrial operations
  • Continuous production environments

Please note: This position requires participation in an alternate weekend standby rotation and availability to respond to critical plant breakdowns when required.
